আমাদের শরীরে 2000-এর ও বেশী নির্দিষ্ট আকুপয়েন্ট আছে, সেই পয়েন্টগুলিতে আকুপাংচার, আকুপ্রেসার, মক্সিবাসশান, ম্যাসাজ প্রভৃতি রোগনিরাময় পদ্ধতিকে প্রয়োগ করা যয়৷ আকুপয়েন্ট কে আকুপাংচার পয়েন্টও বলে, এই পয়েন্টগুলি মেরিডিয়ানে অবস্থিত৷ 14টি প্রধান মেরিডিয়ানে মোটামুটিভাবে 360টি আকুপয়েন্ট আছে এবং নির্দিষ্ট ধরনের আকুপাংচার-বিশেষজ্ঞ ওই পয়েন্টগুলির মধ্যে প্রাত্যহিক ভিত্তিতে প্রায় 100টিকে ব্যবহার করেন৷
