This is actually the second Imperial Summer Palace, the first was burned to the ground. It is the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China, combining aspects of mountains and water.
Built in the 1400s, it served as the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are supposedly 9,999 rooms in the palace so if you want to see them all, pack a lunch.
